HELLO!

Welcome to the site for my SLS 2901 Academic Foundations course for Fall 2015.

This is a basic academic foundations course; encompassing 3 areas.

The first is First Year Experience. We go over all of the intro to college basic stuff. How to get to class (on time), take advantage of campus resources, and basically navigate this whole going to college thing.

The second piece is Academics & Learning Strategies. All of the stuff a freshmen should know about how academics in college is different than academics in high school. How to get good grades, what exactly it means to “study” and all the hacks to get thru the semester as the best possible student you can be.

The third (and most awesome) part of the class is Careers. This class is solely for Mass Communication majors and every assignment will have a Mass Com twist to it. Students in this class aspire to careers in television, journalism, public relations, advertising, photography, social media, and graphic design (just to name a few!)

These students are not only navigating their first year of college, they are working to get a jump start on the rest of their lives. There are only 4 years of college to squeeze in all the experiences you can, and we are going to make the most of every second. We are glad you are along for the ride!
